imRAD® provides the RADIUS(Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) and DHCPv4/6 server services. RADIUS provides centralized Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting management for users who connect and use a network service and it is the back-end of choice for 802.1X authentication as well[1].

WPA(Wi-Fi Protected Access)-Enterprise is designed for enterprise networks and requires a RADIUS authentication server. This requires a more complicated setup, but provides additional security (e.g. protection against dictionary attacks on short passwords).
Various kinds of the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) are used for authentication. WPA-Enterprise mode is available with both WPA and WPA2[2].

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DHCP) in the imRAD allocates IP addresses to DHCP clients.

For more, refer to the RADIUS Overview and DHCP Overview.
