MAC(Media Access Control) address is often called Link-Layer address, Ethernet hardware, or Physical address and is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller (NIC) for use as a network address in communications within a network segment.[1]

In the DHCPv4, the MAC address is a DHCP client identifier.
